LESSON 1: INTRODUCTION TO ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS6 INTERFACE

Adobe Photoshop is photo editing software that was developed by Adobe Incorporation.  This software has been developed in different version which includes;cs4, cs6, cc, 2020 etc. In this tutorial, I will be using Adobe Photoshop cs6.

Photoshop can be used to edit pictures, design posters, fliers, invitation cards, calendar, and all other graphic designs.

I am beginning this training with a quick introduction to the software interface.

Below is the interface of Adobe Photoshop CS6 when first opened.

 A. MENU BAR

The top row is the menu bar which contain the File, Edit, Image, Layer tabs, etc.

Under each Tab, there is a drop down menu. Below is the drop down menu of the file tab.

B. OPTION BAR

The next thing is the Option bar

This bar has a connection with the tool panel/box. Any tool selected will display an option as to how to use the tool at this bar.

C. TOOL BOX/PANEL

These are the tools used to create a design in Photoshop cs6. Every tool selected has its option at the option bar. There are other hidden tools for more of the tools. The tools that have a small triangle (i.e. circled in red) attached to it indicates, it has a hidden tool.

To view and select any hidden tool, right click on the displayed tool and a list of all the hidden tools for that particular tool to display.

When the mouse pointer is placed on any tool, it displays a tool tip showing the name of that particular tool.

D. FORGROUND AND BACKGROUD COLOUR INDICATORS

By default, the black square is the foreground and the white square is the background.

The small arrow beside the square is used for interchanging the foreground and the background.

E. PANELS

On the right side is located the panel. We have the following panels

               LAYER PANEL

ADJUSTMENT PANEL
